Clients

A list of our clients include:

Citizens Advice – In conjuction with Sigma Consulting Service
We are working as migration consultants on a project for one of their largest public sector clients websites which needs to be upgraded and converted into a newer version of the Livelink web content management application. Using custom code written in python we are helping transfer over the site and working out how to remove all the older irrelevant content to ensure the new site contains only relevant information. We delivered the project on time for their major publicity launch and the client has been delighted!

Netmedia – Technical Consultants
I worked with the team to redesign a number of their software solutions for use on mobile platforms and liaising with their near shore development facility in Russia. I helped specify the architecture and deployment platform for their new adobe Air interface which was put in place on one of their incident management systems used by local security organizations around the UK.

Glasgow University – Java/Spring Application Development

I worked on a number of internal projects as a consultant in migrating the statistics engine for HESA from an Ingres 4GL application to a Java based system. We used JDOM for XML document creation and created a batch processing system that allowed the University to process over 250,000 rows of data into an xml document to meet with the new submission requirements for statistics for each year of study. The project was a success and I worked with 3 other programmers leading the java development side and working with their Ingres knowledge experts to create the current system in a Java/Spring environment on their JBoss server infrastructure.

The project was an implementation of an admissions system from an Ingres 2.6 4GL application to a web based application on Java. The main technologies involved were the spring framework and a number of other open source technologies such as Hibernate 3.1, IOC, Spring MVC, Tiles, jUnit and JSP/Servlets. The application was developed from the requirements handed to me at the start of the project and we took on the role of the project technical lead. We were involved in the testing, deployment and internal client meetings to ensure the project is delivered on time and meets their requirements. The project went live in August and is being expanded into further phases of development.

I also ran a Hibernate training course for the other programmers in the department to show them the capabilities of the technology and how it would apply to their environment.

Devon County Council – Obtree Migration
Working leading the Internal Development team I managed the migration of Devon County Councils 3 sites (Public facing, Intranet and Training) over an 8 week plan. The project was a complete success with the new infrastructure being switched over seamlessly. I managed the project plan from the technical side, I also wrote scripts to fix issues with the upgrade that Livelink themselves could not solve and configured the environment and configurations of the systems for optimal performance. I also helped the council on a number of integration projects as an advisor with my experience of Java and Enterprise integration with LDAP, Document Management System (TRIM) and BEA Weblogic applications (Lagan and CRM systems Frontline).

London Borough of Merton – Metadata Integration
Working alongside a systems integrator we implemented a metadata loader for an Obtree content management application. The code was loaded from an XML feed from their metadata provider. This work is ongoing and we are working on a workflow system to allow metadata to be requested dynamically for each page throughout its content lifecycle. This solution was implemented in Obtree C4.2.

Bracknell Forest Council – Metadata Integration
Working alongside a systems integrator I implemented a metadata loader for Livelink Content Management Server 9.5. The code was loaded from an XML feed from their metadata provider. This work is ongoing and we are working on a workflow system to allow metadata to be requested dynamically for each page throughout its content lifecycle.

West Lothian Council – Mediasurface Consultancy
I was working as the main Mediasurface consultant on the upgrade and redesign of the www.westhlothian.gov.uk site. Working alongside ACS Europe and Laveron the design agency I was involved realising the new design and architecture into the existing Mediasurface content management repository. This involved rewriting a lot of Mediasurface code and java servlets within their Tomcat Server environment. Through a tight deadline we managed to redesign the complete site within 3 weeks of work. We then implemented a number of enhancements to the site over December and January.

Kudos – Obtree Consultants

We worked on development of a number of Obtree/Livelink content management sites for clients like www.equipmentdirect.org.uk and citizens advice www.citizensadvice.org.uk. We took on the lead developer role on 5 migration projects and one new development using Livelink 9.5 on Linux and Oracle. The main tasks have been technical project management, installation, VM-Ware server setup and the technical development of each project. My main role is on overseeing the migration of four sites to Livelink 9.5 from Obtree C3 – C4. Other projects included a site for equipment direct involve integration using Web Services, custom databases and SAML XML protocol to enable single sign on (SSO) over a number of services. We also helped with the installation and creation of pages, templates and site structure.

Student Loans Company – Analyst Programmer

This project involved designing and implementing new functionality in the Student Loans Companies LEA portal application. This application allows all LEA’s (Local Education Authorities) in England to administer loans and fee payments to Students. We created a solution from the business requirements working within a team of 5 developers. We developed on an Oracle 10G Database and application server platform using J2EE, OC4J, Struts, Spring framework and Hibernate for relational persistence. A large amount of code re-use was employed as there was a lot of existing and legacy J2EE/EJB code that talked to mid tier business logic we had to interact with. The main portion of work involved creating a business logic engine using XML to process questions for financial calculations to be sent onto the main rules engine.
